Phishing Hit New All-Time High

According to a report by the Anti-Phishing Working Group, 2024 saw phishing incidents surpass the annual record set in 2023, making 2024 the highest number ever recorded.

One reason for this increase is the growing recognition of the working group, leading to more people reporting incidents. Another factor is the continued expansion of Internet use worldwide, contributing to a natural rise in phishing activity.

However, it’s undeniable that scams themselves are escalating rapidly. The number of scam emails we receive daily has noticeably increased.

Recently, there has been a rise in phishing texts created using AI. In fact, data shows that 20% of all phishing scams are now AI-generated.

Previously, poorly written Japanese was often a giveaway for scams, but AI-generated texts written in natural and fluent Japanese are making it harder to identify them at a glance.

To combat this growing threat, it’s crucial to use the latest security tools to block scams and to stay vigilant, avoiding any suspicious links or emails.
